Hi everyone!
I came across this site in March and it has been SUCH a source of inspiration to me, and I can't believe I'm posting my own BFP story on here now. Some background - tried with my first husband from 2003 till early 2012, had 6 M/C's in that time. Long unexplained gaps in between pregnancies, tests revealed nothing at all wrong with me and no reasons for the M/C's. Found issues with ex DH, a very abnormal sperm morphology issue (85% abnormal with 15% normal). Told our only hope was to try ICSI, was offered 2 cycles of this on the NHS. In February 2012, literally ten days before I was due to start injections, ex DH left me after 16 years of marriage. He was having an affair with my best friend, totally devastated, thought my chance to become a Mum was over at age 38.
Then got together with a close friend who I'd known for ten years, married him on April 6th but started to try last March. DH had a test and count etc all came back fine. NHS said if I needed it I was still entitled to 2 rounds of IVF/ICSI but I must access this before my 40th birthday this coming October. Hoped we would catch naturally without having to do this.
Started temping and charting again in March, BFN in March and April, convinced I was pregnant in April but the witch arrived a few days later than normal for me. So this month, this is what we did and my symptoms:
BD 3 days before OV and the day before OV. DH was then away with work on the day itself so we couldn't BD, and I was convinced I was out this time.
1-3 DPO - No symptoms.
4-9 DPO - Really tired, was in my office on a web training course and couldn't help closing my eyes and nodding off a bit, very unlike me. Sore BBS towards 7-8 DPO but usually get that anyway before AF due.
9 DPO - Creamy CM, again unusual for me, woke up twice in the night needing the loo - never usually do that.
10 DPO - Had two pink spots of blood when I wiped after going to the loo - thought that's it, I'm definitely out because I usually spot before AF appears, but AF can take up to 2 days or so to arrive from when I start to spot
11 DPO - Brown spotting, sore bbs, very tired, cramp like pains in my lower back and sides.
12 DPO - Sore bbs, cramp like pains in my lower back and sides.
13 DPO - Really tired, decided to have a glass of white wine to relax after getting back from my office and it went straight to my head, only had half - again unusual for me.
14 DPO - AF due, been a few days since the spotting, convinced that AF was still on the way.
15 DPO - Still convinced that AF was on the way but just a bit later than normal, sore BBS (very sore in fact), cramp like pains in my lower back and sides. Exhausted.
16 DPO - Went into town and bought 2 x packs HPT's, 1 digital pack and one normal pack. Said to myself I would NOT test until 18 DPO if AF doesn't show, but couldn't resist testing that evening at approximately 8.15pm, so I thought it would be completely the wrong time to test, but did it anyway. Used one of the digital tests, within seconds a BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A minute or so later it says "2-3 weeks". Woke up DH to tell him as he wasn't very well in bed with a flu virus, he thought he was dreaming!
17 DPO - Used second digital test first thing when I got up to get a second opinion - BFP again within seconds!! Booked doctors appointment and been referred to the EPU for initial consultation and scan next Tuesday due to my history of miscarriages, even though they were likely down to the issue my ex DH had.
18 DPO - Still can't believe it so use one of the normal tests, Superdrug own brand - strong pink BFP line within seconds again!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely pregnant!!
What I did differently this last month - I bought and used Pre-Seed without letting my DH know (ran into the bathroom before BD and used the inserting tube with it) and tried to relax although difficult knowing I only had till October to try and get pregnant naturally. I cut out alcohol for the most part from March 10th onwards this year and only had a bit at my wedding to DH, and the one the other night.
Don't ever give up ladies, I'm living proof it CAN happen!!!!!!! Obviously I have a long way to go yet, but praying that this one sticks!!!
Here's to happy and healthy BFP's and baby dust to all!!!
